PUMPKINS

With Halloween looming on the horizon, securing the most perfect pumpkin in all of Bate's Nut Farm was our goal for early October! So with little Miss Olivia in tow, Emily trekked out into the muddy patch of "Big Macs" after Daniel, who was swiftly pushing his red wheelbarrow past the other searchers, to find the most glorious, most perfect, most spectacular pumpkin that was sure to receive many oohs and aahs on October 31st.

After inspecting, rolling, adjusting, and mock-displaying many wet pumpkins from the early morning showers down in Valley Center, we found our winners - yes, two large pumpkins it would be!
After thoroughly ruining the bottom of our jeans, rebundling up Olivia numerous times in her little green blanket, and hiking back to the area of "small" pumpkins (regular size to normal folks), we found Olivia's first pumpkin and proceeded to the checkout, where the damage to our wallet was certainly done!
With grins on our faces and an excitement in the air with the anticipation of what kind of faces would sprawl across the fronts of our pumpkins, we left Bate's ... and decided that even though we had three beautiful pumpkins in the bed of our truck, we were blessed with, metaphorically speaking, the most beautiful, most perfect pumpkin in the whole patch, who, after the exhausting pumpkin hunt, closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.
