Q: What's black and white and red all over?

A: The most perfect first birthday party ever, that's what!

No, the title did not contain a typo and we were not eluding to the old newspaper joke, but rather to Olivia's big one year party! Although her actual birthday was yesterday, this past Saturday was painted with black, white, and red as our family and friends came together to celebrate the first year of Olivia's life. And it was quite the event, let us tell you!

Naturally, the theme of O's first party was centered around the precocious literary character, "Olivia" the piglet, who never skips a beat and inquisitively tackles the world around her. The original book in the series, simply entitled "Olivia" and written by Ian Falconer, is illustrated primarily in black, white, and red (hence the party color scheme). We love these books; this fiesty little piglet who shares our daughter's name is just so much like our little O...who definitely tackled her birthday party like a real pro!

While reveling, she played with rocks by the fountain in the backyard, charmed the crowd of party goers with her chit chat and gift opening, and "ate" a cupcake...

well, more like "smeared" a cupcake...LOL! The above photo is a "before" shot, while the next few are obviously "afters!"

However, she did seem to love the chocolate that actually did make it to her mouth!

After these photos were taken to document her first cupcake ever eaten, O got an immediate quick little bird bath upstairs before returning to the festivities being held in her honor!

Who knew a year ago how much happiness we would be able to experience because of this precious little girl! We truly hope she enjoyed her first birthday bash...from the looks of it, we think she did!
