Apparently, MUCH to our (okay, let's be honest, Emily's) dismay, we've followed the trend of becoming a bit out of chronological order while catching up on all of our summer posts! We recall the same mishap occurred last year, too! However, not wanting to leave a single adventure out, we'll all just have to deal with it (EMILY)!
On June 6, the three of us drove down to Escondido to spend the day meandering around the Wild Animal Park with Gigi (Papa joined us later after he was done at work). The weather was cool, and the animals were, much to our sightseeing advantage, really active. We especially loved the lorikeets... well, some of us more than others! We lunched at "Okavango Outpost," overlooking the spectacular views to be witnessed in the "Heart of Africa," and found that regardless of the number of times you frequent, visits to the WAP never get old and always lead you to discover something new!
As close as we came to an actual rhino!
Whoa, nelly! Hanging out with the hungry birds in "Lorikeet Landing!" We're not quite sure as to why that one had no feathers (though the fact that he was MEAN may explain it!)... but the hand washing station was the first place we went after we were done!
The new head wear craze... we're so sure you'll see it all over runways this fall!
Paying homage to the bird lady in Mary Poppins; look what resulted from using our "tuppence!"
After witnessing Emily's catlike reflexes swat one of the birds when it pecked a little too ferociously for her liking at Olivia, we thought we should show her the gentle side of petting!
Lesson, Part 1: Be loving to all creatures.
Lesson, Part 2: In the event that a mangy lorikeet attacks your baby, do what you must in terms of self-defense maneuvers!
Three generations, strolling hand in hand!
Olivia and Gigi, sharing a moment amidst the beautiful scenery!
What a treasured photo of grandmother and granddaughter!
