The happenings of this past weekend...
After a day full of torrential downpours, Friday evening was quickly nixed for being the big night...so it was determined that Saturday would be our golden day to go choose Olivia's very first Christmas tree. Saturday happened to include Grandpa and Grandma, so they would get to partake in the experience as well! But, much to our dismay, Saturday proved to be a wet one with its own issues other than the weather (Emily's stomach flu - ick!)...so finally on Sunday, with high aspirations, the three of us entered The Home Depot tree lot. We were ready, surrounded by vast possibilities, and prepared to battle any twine that dared to cross our path and therefore inhibit us from viewing each candidate in its full glory...but as we walked into the 7'-8' section, there, UNWRAPPED, leaning casually on a pole, was the most perfect, most special, most Elgan, 2007 tree.
"But we've NEVER had one that's already been unwrapped," Daniel said, a bit disappointed to not be tugging at the constricting twine or hauling out every tree until he managed to finally get that "tall" one in the way back, oh yes, the VERY back, that Emily was directing him to because she was certain it was the one.
"This is it," Emily simply replied. After a few "Are you sures??? It IS UNWRAPPED..." comments, we left with THE ONE...our meant to be tree to share with our meant to be daughter. Because when you know, you just know.
