Maren and Jeremy's wedding: Saturday, June 21, 2008

So the big day for Olivia (and well, I guess Maren and Jeremy, LOL) had finally arrived.  Olivia didn't know it, but she was about to make her big flower girl debut in her second cousin Maren's wedding held at Still Waters Vineyard in, yep, you guessed it, Paso Robles.

3:30 p.m.: Here is the youngest of the bridal crew, post nap at "Salon de Mama" getting ready.  It was the first occasion her hair had managed to escape the pigtails and been curled!

4:45 p.m.: Pre-ceremony, the bridal party (even the babies) arrived early to pose for pictures.  Olivia's other second cousins (and the bride's sisters), Lauren and Kristen, are the two bridesmaids on the left.

After photos, we sat inside the air-conditioned wine tasting room, waiting.  Well, the little ones sat every once in a while...

most of the time, they were playing ever so carefully (under the watchful eyes of parents in chase) with all the goodies within their reach.  The other flower children are the daughter and son of a friend of Emily's cousin.

We must say, that a.) Olivia was quite the patient flower girl and b.) amazingly, after all that floor sitting, her dressed stay clean until the ceremony!

6:20ish p.m.: Finally, the highly anticipated moment came for Olivia to make her big flower girl entrance.  It went something like this:

1. After carrying her up a few wooden, steep steps, Emily put Olivia down at the base of the big, grassy hill known as the "aisle"
2. Olivia froze and began to cry a little
3. Emily handed her her little flower ball and started to walk with her hand outstretched, trying to encourage Olivia to come along
4. Olivia tossed the flower ball behind her, ran to Emily's legs, and really began to cry while the ring bearer wailed in sync about three feet away
5. Emily picked up the flower ball, picked up Olivia, and hiked the hill in her very cute, very high, very expensive Bebe silver heels
6. Olivia - and Emily - made their entrance in front of the masses

After Olivia/Emily and the ring bearer/his dad (because he, too, was carried up the aisle), the bride and her parents followed with no idea of the scene that had just unfolded!  LOL!

As the bride and groom exchanged vows and entered into wedded bliss...

Olivia spent her time under the olive trees, contemplating life(?),

doing some debating of what to do next (as there were so many options!),

running full speed ahead without a care in the world,

and tasting one of the olive tree's dirt.  She tore the tulle netting on her dress on a tree shortly before this photo was taken!

After the ceremony, we walked down to the lawn where the reception was set to take place.  Here is a shot of one proud mommy and one little trooper as we awaited the official arrival of the bride and groom to the reception area.

"So this is what being a flower girl is all about, huh?" she thought to herself after her jaunt down the aisle was all over.

The flowers around the garden area and ponds had such beautiful, vibrant bursts of color...but not as beautiful and vibrant as our little O!

Below is a picture of Emily and her mom, enjoying the view and some vino on the lawn together.

Olivia, posing again for Daddy after changing out of her "fairy princess" (as we called it) flower girl gown and into her "party/dancing" dress!

During the bride and groom's first dance as husband and wife,

Emily's mom and dad enjoyed the festivities and food, table side!

Minutes later, with the 60-something guests looking on, Emily's Auntie Kathy and Uncle Dean had their first dance as newly appointed "in-laws" to their new son-in-law, Jeremy.  I guess they approve!

8:00-9:00 p.m.: As the sun began to melt into the California horizon and stars began to twinkle in the night sky, Daniel captured one last shot of the most perfect little flower girl ever.  And then we danced...until our 9:30 p.m. departure!  It was bedtime for one exhausted little girl!  xoxoxox

We are so very proud of you, Olivia!
