October 17: For our third Halloween in a row, we headed down to Valley Center to stomp around Bates Nut Farm in search of the perfect pumpkins! We also horsed around in the petting zoo, rode the train, and just plain had some good old October fun!
Wagon in hand, ready to do business!
We couldn't miss the opportunity to get acquainted with some four-legged, farmy friends!
I think they were telling each other jokes...
Papa and Gigi also met up with us... and came along for one scenic train ride of the beautiful mountains surrounding the farm!
How could we possibly pick just one pumpkin? The answer is, we couldn't! (My favorite is the one in the black shirt!)
It is so neat to watch her grow over the years and experience pumpkin picking differently. Just look at her go!
PRICELESS!
The "Big Macs:" A staple at the Elgan home on Halloween!
Time to weigh those pumpkins in! (And pay per pound... YOWZA!)
Refuel!
Two of our 2009 pumpkins... getting ready for one Halloween extravaganza, ELGAN style! Watch out for spiders...
