To prepare for the menu for Christmas day, we switched gears from Mexican-themed food (on Christmas Eve with Emily's side) to an Italian one! Since we were all pretty full still from the Thanksgiving feast up at Grammie K's house, we elected to go non-traditional and eat some good, old, hearty Italian food. Emily had the best of both worlds, and was truly able to embrace both of her roots with these two meals - or was she embracing more of her sweet tooth with all the holiday confections adorning the tables and countertops??? Daniel's side of the family began arriving around 2:00 p.m., and using our new video camera (thanks to Jeff and Chris, a.k.a. Olivia's Grandpa and Grandma!), Daniel captured everything on film. We opened gifts before dinner, and Daniel caught everything on tape from the dip on O's cousin Taylor's face to cousin Hailey explaining how her new flashlight from Uncle Greg and Aunt Danielle works ("And then when I can't see something in the dark, I'll just turn it on and be able to see it!" TOO CUTE!) to Karen crying over the photos we had taken of the three Elgan boys and their wives ("YOU FAKED ME OUT!" That was the point!). We began our Italian fare with "grace," in which we thanked the Lord for the many blessings we have been given, and rejoiced in the true meaning of Christmas. And then we ate...LASAGNA!

As soon as we receive more photos from Grammie K, we'll be sure to share!

What a sweet girl! I'll bet she had a ball! Is she wondering where all the decorations went?
Over December, O loved to climb the couch cushions in hopes of nabbing herself on of the little people from our nativity scene on top of the console table...well, she's still climbing the couch cushions, but I don't think that she completely realizes baby Jesus just isn't there anymore...and while watching daddy haul out the tree, she carefully fiddled with the needles left behind in his path, but then moved on to something else. She is really funny...we found out the other night that she loves to dance (she flaps her arm around and wiggles her little body when you are holding her) - too funny.
