We always find ourselves in the mountains, as if we're beckoned by the peaks, summoned by the pines, invited by the fresh air to visit on days when we just want to enjoy one another and the beauty of our surroundings. I'm sure when we retire, Olivia will be coming to visit Daniel and I in some rustic cabin, where we'll delight in a Father's Day dinner on the porch and the calm whisper of the trees...
This year, on June 21 we found ourselves heading up to Big Bear. We usually trek up the mountain to Lake Arrowhead (as it's closer and a little more quaint), but thought a Big Bear morning trip would be an exciting change of pace. Once there, we had our first "Moonridge Zoo" experience, where we got to view some local animals that are not often seen. Olivia really enjoyed the bears that were kept in their enclosures much more than the wooden one that came a little too close! And Dad and Mom really enjoyed the cutest little critter of all taking in new sights!
Smiling... a usual Elgan verb!
Daddy and O, checking out the animals...
She looks like she's thinking, "I don't know about this one, Dad..."
Once we got home, we spent the rest of the afternoon in the backyard... playing, jumping, and barbecuing dinner!
There may have even been a magic spell or two cast by one quick little tutu-wearing, wand-waving fairy!
Abracadabra, inflate!
"See, I told you this wand really works!"
We know one thing she wasn't wishing for, because she's already got it: the greatest, most wonderfully loving and giving daddy of all time! Olivia loves you, Daddy (and so does Mama)!
